Again discussions about online search/investigations at Spiegel

5. Juli 2007

Dear blog…

I can’t hear it anymore! It makes me sick!

Today the German magazine “Spiegel” published an articleabout the planned online investigations of computers by German securityauthorities – project leader Mr. Schäuble. This is one of hundred articlesduring the last weeks and months.

The Spiegel article nailed it down to the basic statement: ITSIMMPOSSIBLE to run online undetectable search/investigations at PCs over theInternet. Especially those people, which use the Internet for their criminalintentions, already have the knowledge about how to protect against “Trojan”snooping software. Does Mr. Schäuble really think that the good organizedterrorists wait for his email with the “slouch hat” attachment?

I don’t know what the security authorities have in mind while thinkingabout this technology. Possibly it’s a greater project behind this.

I have an idea what these guys wanna have: In combination withconnection data of telecommunication providers, the new German ID number foreach citizen, motion profiles from the MAUT system at the streets and a lot ofother personal information the will build a huge data warehouse. The will runqueries against the warehouse and create a risk rating for every person withinthe German borders. Bad luck! If you have a rating of 50, you will possiblybecome a future terrorist with a chance of 50%. You didn’t know that?Every morning the slouch hats will get a report on their screens about possiblynew terrorist and within a mouse click the can select you and 500 other peopleand send out the snooping software. If that software detects something “wrong”on our PC than the system will automatically print out the warrant of arrest atpolice station in your neighborhood.

Can you imagine other possible scenarios, than let me know !!
