Home router hacking…

10. Januar 2012

There are several different podcasts I hear on a regular base. In one of them I just got an interesting looking web site recommendation out. The sec folks talked about insecure home WLAN routers and stuff like this and of course some gaps in implementation of easy wireless setup/configurations at home routers. If you just want test your home router again some major vulnerabilities then you might look at this website:

http://www.routerpwn.com/

The site lists some of the major equipment vendors and you will get an list of most/latest vulns. The site then tries to launch attacks/exploids using javascript in your browser against the home router/wireless access point. Ususally the attacks in java script are using the factory default IP addresses of these routers. If it doesnt work at your home environment you might download the jscript code and look for the destination IP/attack IP. You might have to adjust this first, before lauching the attack/exploid again.

I know this looks like an script kiddy/girlie like tool, but might help in a first step to check for issues with your home router.
